Newport & Boston: A Coastal September
A perfect late-summer journey from the parks of Boston to the historic shores of Newport, with a delicious stop in Providence.
Newport & Boston
In September 2025, we experienced the perfect New England getaway. The weather was absolutely flawless—crisp enough to feel like autumn was coming, but warm enough to enjoy the coastal breeze.
A Boston Beginning
We flew into Boston and were immediately greeted by perfect conditions. We spent a full day in the city, which was exactly what we needed to rest and recharge. We stayed at the AKA Boston near Boston Common, a prime location that made exploring easy.
Some of our favorite moments were spent just walking. We wandered through the lush greenery of the parks and took long, peaceful strolls along the river shore. Between the walking and the amazing restaurants we discovered, it was the ideal way to kick off the trip.
A Quick Stop in Providence
After our time in Boston, we ventured south towards the coast. Along the way, we made a quick but memorable stop in Providence.
We took some time to visit the beautiful campus of Brown University and walked through the 195 District Park. Luck was on our side as we managed to catch the farmers market in full swing. The highlight of the stop, however, was lunch. We headed to Geoff’s Superlative Sandwiches and enjoyed what might have been the best sandwich of the trip.
Arriving in Newport
With the sun beginning to dip, we headed straight to Newport. We had heard that the sunsets there weren’t to be missed, and they certainly lived up to the hype.

For the next few days, we settled into an amazing routine. Every morning felt like a dream as we explored the Cliff Walk, discovered a new beach (each more stunning than the last), and tried some delicious restaurants along Thames Street.
Our Airbnb, located just off Thames Street, provided the perfect sanctuary between activities. Being so close to the action while having a quiet place to rest made the experience even better.
Newport in September is truly something special. The combination of historic charm, coastal beauty, and that perfect late-summer light made for a trip we won’t soon forget.
